Terms and Conditions – Ashdown Garden Buildings
1. Access Requirements
The customer must provide a clear, unobstructed route to the prepared base for safe delivery and installation. The access route must:
- Be free from height or width restrictions, tight turns, or vegetation.
- Allow panels to be carried by hand without obstruction.
- Not require panels to be lifted over garage roofs, buildings, or fences exceeding 4ft, in accordance with health and safety regulations.
All animal waste must be removed prior to arrival. Ashdown Garden Buildings reserves the right to apply a cleaning charge if the site is not suitably prepared.
If adequate access is not provided, installation may be refused and the building may be left for self-assembly, with no refund.
2. Base Requirements
The customer is responsible for ensuring a solid, level base is prepared before the delivery date. The base must:
- Be of sufficient size to support the entire footprint of the building.
- Be level within acceptable tolerances to allow safe installation.
The ground beneath the base must be firm and suitable to support the structure. Ashdown Garden Buildings accepts no responsibility for issues arising from inadequate or unsuitable base preparation carried out by the customer or third parties.
If a suitable base is not provided, installation may be postponed and a call-back charge will be applied. We can supply a base-laying service at an additional cost.
3. Installation Conditions
The customer must ensure a minimum 2ft (600mm) clearance around the entire perimeter of the building to allow installation.
Failure to provide adequate space will result in:
- Installation delays charged at £95 per additional visit; or
- The building being left for customer self-assembly (no refund); or
- Re-scheduling at 20% of the total order value, plus any applicable call-back fees.
Buildings remain the property of Ashdown Garden Buildings until payment has been received in full.
Any waiting time, delays or additional labour caused by site conditions outside our control will be charged at £95 per visit.
4. Parking and Delivery Access
The customer must inform Ashdown Garden Buildings in advance of any parking restrictions, permit requirements or limited access to the delivery site.
Additional charges may apply when:
- The carrying distance exceeds 30 metres from the parking location to the installation site; or
- Parking permits, paid parking or additional labour is required.
5. Planning Permission
It is the customer’s sole responsibility to ensure that their chosen building location complies with all relevant planning regulations and property restrictions.
Ashdown Garden Buildings accepts no liability for issues arising from non-compliance.
6. Ex-Display Buildings
Ex-display buildings are sold strictly on a “sold as seen” basis. These buildings have been previously assembled and displayed and may show signs of wear and tear, weathering or minor cosmetic imperfections.
Customers are strongly advised to inspect ex-display buildings prior to purchase to ensure they are satisfied with the condition, size, specification and overall suitability. Any marks, alterations or defects visible at the time of sale are accepted as part of the purchase. There may also be marks or slight discolouration where display signage or information boards have previously been attached.
No guarantees are given regarding the cosmetic condition of ex-display buildings beyond their condition at the point of sale. These items are priced accordingly to reflect their ex-display status.
All ex-display sales are final. No returns, refunds or exchanges will be offered once the purchase has been completed, unless required under applicable consumer protection law.
7. Delivery Dates
Delivery and installation dates are provided as an estimate and may be subject to change due to circumstances beyond our control, including adverse weather, supplier delays or vehicle issues.
Ashdown Garden Buildings will not be held liable for any costs or losses resulting from delayed delivery.
8. Specification and Natural Materials
All buildings are manufactured from natural timber, which may expand, contract, twist or develop splits over time. These are natural characteristics and do not constitute faults.
Specifications, designs and materials may vary slightly from display models, images or descriptions due to ongoing product improvements or supplier changes.
9. Customer Responsibility After Installation
Once installed, the building becomes the responsibility of the customer. It is essential that the building is properly maintained to ensure longevity.
This includes:
- Applying appropriate weatherproof treatment where required
- Ensuring adequate ventilation
- Regularly checking roofing materials and seals
- Maintaining drainage around the base to prevent standing water
Failure to maintain the building may result in deterioration for which Ashdown Garden Buildings cannot be held responsible.
10. Waterproofing and Maintenance
Unless otherwise stated, buildings are not supplied as fully waterproof structures. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure the building is sealed and protected against the elements after installation.
We recommend the use of a high-quality exterior wood treatment, applied in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and maintained regularly.
11. Customer Alterations and Modifications
We strongly advise against lining, insulating, plasterboarding or otherwise altering any of our buildings, including sheds, summerhouses and log cabins. Any modifications beyond basic freestanding shelving may void the manufacturer’s warranty. This includes internal studwork, plasterboard, insulation systems, electrical alterations and fixed internal linings.
Log cabins are specifically designed to allow natural movement as timber expands and contracts with changing climatic conditions. Alterations that restrict this movement, or prevent access to important components such as storm braces and adjustment points, can affect the performance, longevity and structural behaviour of the building.
All parts of the building must remain accessible for routine maintenance and any necessary adjustments. Where customer modifications prevent access, interfere with natural movement or restrict maintenance, Ashdown Garden Buildings may be unable to carry out remedial works or assist with future movement-related adjustments.
Any modifications made by the customer, other than basic shelving, may make return visits for adjustments fully chargeable at £95 per visit. In some cases adjustments may not be possible due to those modifications and, where maintenance or adjustments cannot be carried out as a result, Ashdown Garden Buildings cannot accept responsibility for resulting issues.
12. Liability Disclaimer
Ashdown Garden Buildings will not be held responsible for damage to property, driveways, garden features or surrounding areas where reasonable care has been taken during delivery and installation.
The customer accepts responsibility for ensuring the site is suitable and safe for installation.
We are not liable for any injury or damage resulting from misuse of the building or lack of supervision.
13. Faults and Repairs
In the unlikely event of a fault, Ashdown Garden Buildings must be given the opportunity to inspect and rectify the issue within a reasonable timeframe.
We will not reimburse costs for repairs carried out by third parties without prior written agreement.
14. Cancellations and Order Changes
Deposits are non-refundable once an order has been confirmed.
Cancellations or changes to orders may incur charges depending on the stage of production or scheduling. Bespoke or made-to-order items cannot be cancelled once manufacturing has begun.
Ashdown Garden Buildings reserves the right to rectify any manufacturing or installation defects before refunds, replacements or third-party repairs are considered.
Agreement
By placing an order with Ashdown Garden Buildings, the customer confirms they have read, understood and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
